Usage Tips: Replacing Flour as a Thickener
Use Clabber Girl Cornstarch in place of flour as a thickener. Cornstarch dissolves better than flour. If your gravy, sauce or soup recipe calls for flour, replace it with half as much cornstarch. To use, dissolve cornstarch in cold water before adding to hot liquids. Mix cornstarch with a little cold water until smooth, then gradually stir into the hot liquid.
